Religious Festivals
The nursery is not associated with any specific religion and draws children from a variety of faiths, plus an increasing number of children from families that profess no faith.
In view of this the nursery does not celebrate any religious festival. However in the final week of the school year before the Christmas break, the nursery will invite a father to take on the roll of Santa Claus and hand out small presents to the children. The nursery takes the view that this is a non-religious celebration.
As a result of this policy parents will be reminded at the start of December each year that it is the policy of the nursery to remain outside issues of faith, and that the children will not be involved in any Christmas celebrations such as the production of a nativity play. Parents will also be given the date and time of the Santa Claus event.
During our monthly newsletter the nursery will give parents a brief overview of the major religious celebrations around the world being celebrated that month. We believe that learning about other families celebrations encourages respect and tolerance and educates us all.
No religious celebration is fostered at this nursery.
